Coach Vance began his coaching career in 2004 along side his lifelong friend, Coach Parker where they graciously took a 10U team to the AAU Nationals in Coco Beach, FL. This experience was a fun time for him and a learning experience for both he and the team. He followed Coach Parker when he took on duties with the Fairfax Stars Maroon - 10 u team. His team was very talented. However, there were many obstacles at the onset of the season because the majority of the team had never played at the AAU level. However, once he was able to motivate the kids and get them to believe that they could play at this level and be competitive, it was all downhill from that point on and the good times started. Coach Vance then followed Coach Parker to PSPA organization and began coaching a 11U team which competed throughout the AAU season. The highlight of that year was placing 2nd in Ocean City tournament which fielded many good teams from out of state and from around the region. This will be his fourth year with PSPA . His goal with this organization is to bring in a winning tradition and try to build a championship caliber team year in and year out.
“I understand that for some, winning is everything. I feel winning is important; however, if I have helped a kid develop his skills and have prepared him for the next age level, I consider that a WIN every time. For some basketball may be simply recreation. For others, a college education and for a small percentile, maybe even a means of earning a very good living. Your son will go as far as his dreams will carry him and I promise to do all I can to help him achieve those dreams as long as he is willing to do his part which is to LISTEN, LEARN, and LABOR.”
