Coach Parker grew up in Northern Virginia and has resided in Sterling, Virginia for the past 20 years. He began coaching as a high school senior taking on the challenge of a 5th grade house team. It was a fun and enjoyable experience led to the realization that this was his calling. He continued coaching, while in college at Ohio State. During those years he won several summer league championships. He returned to Virginia in 1999 and continued to coach house league teams and select travel teams.
His greatest wealth in coaching was received when he and Coach Ty took a 10U AAU team to Coca Beach, FL in the summer of 2004, where his team came up short by losing by 1 point in the final four. He then went on to coach the Fairfax Stars 10U in 2006. Coach Parker joined PSPA in 2006 and will be entering into his third year with the program. Coach Parker identifies with the programs mission towards developing players. It allows for him and Coach Ty be comfortable and teach the boys the ingredients needed to be successful.
He emphasizes skill development and knowledge of how to play and execute on the court. His practices are productive and devoted to drills, competition, teaching, reaching goals and improving individual and team skills. I believe in the best use of practice time and game experience to benefit the players in commitment to becoming better basketball players. His emphasis is on tenacious team defense, unselfish team offense and superior fundamentals.
